National Service Scheme
National Service Scheme (N.S.S) was launched during the Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth centenary year i.e., 1969.
The main aim of N.S.S. is “Development of student personality through Community Service”. In order to fulfill the objective, student Volunteers and program functionaries are engaged in constructive and productive programs involving students in various awareness drives like shramdaan, Social reforms, Communal harmony, creation of community assets, relief work, blood donation, environmental protection, eradication of child labor, adult literacy programs, health education campaigns etc., Under the scheme, each volunteer contributes 240 hours of community work during the period of a year.
N.S.S volunteers created community assets like the summer stage tanks in villages, foundation work for the houses of weaker sections, roads for inaccessible villages etc. even in the early years of its existence.
Ever since the inception of N.S.S., our units have been engaged in zealous and purposeful social work upholding the ideal of N.S.S. i.e., “Education through Service”. The boys and the girls of the college have been evincing genuine interest in the activities of N.S.S. under the inspiring leadership of lecturers with learning and experience.
Until 1974, the activities of N.S.S. were confined to the campus. Thanks to the introduction of “Special Camping Program” by Late Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, N.S.S. units have developed a wider scope to come closer to the rural community, which forms the backbone of Indian economy.
There are three NSS Units in the college. Each unit has a strength of 100 volunteers each. Sri.G.Chandra Sekhar, Lecturer in Commerce, Dr.K.Sanjanna, Lecturer in Telugu and Sri.K.Govindu, Lecturer in Economics are the N.S.S Program Officers who head each unit.
Besides, undertaking several activities like blood donation, clean and green, laying roads in villages, our volunteers participated in several State-level and National level camps held in different parts of the country. Some of our volunteers represented our state in RD Parade held in New Delhi.
Two volunteers participated in R.D.C. training at Pachu Marry (M.P.) in 1993. 5 Girl Volunteers participated in pre-R.D.C. Training at Hyderabad in 1999. Mr.M. Paramesh of III B.Com Participated in Republic Parade in 2002.
Kum.D.Soumya of III B.Sc Participated in pre R.D.C. Camp at Chabra in Bihar State and was selected as group leader for Andhra Team.
With an aim to develop qualities of courage, comradeship (camaraderie), discipline, leadership, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth, NCC was commissioned by the Presidential Act in 1948. In order to instill these noble qualities in our students, the first N.C.C. Company was raised in our college in 1962. L. Nageshwara Rao was the first N.C.C. Officer.
The Beginning
In the beginning, N.C.C. training was made mandatory to all the Degree students of the College. Later in 1968, N.C.C. training was made optional. Then, the college had a company of N.C.C. cadets with the strength of 165.
In 1996, our N.C.C. Unit was overhauled. Two Senior Division Platoons were added to the existing platoon. Since then, our College N.C.C. unit has two platoons with a total of 100 cadets. They have been renamed as 147 A & B platoons, of 28 Andhra Battalions. In 1998, two girl units of N.C.C. with the strength of 100 cadets were commissioned. They are called 58 A & B 9 (A) Girls Battalions.
At present, there are two Boys units and One Girl. Each unit is led by an Associate N C C Officer. Sri. P.Kambi Reddy, Lecturer in Physical Education, is the CTO of Boys’ Unit while Kum.Uma Maheshwari is the CTO of Girls’ Unit.
Our cadets participated in several N C C Camps, Thala Sainik Camps , RDC and Pre-RDC Camps held in different parts of the country. Our cadet Sgt. V.Basavaraj of III B.A. participated in Republic Day Parade of 2005.Sgt. A.Laxmanna represented our college in the Republic Day Parade (2007).
Besides participating in different camps, our cadets actively participate in several social activities like Blood Donation Camps, AIDS Awareness Camps, Pulse Polio Administering Camp s, Traffic Awareness Weeks, etc. Our cadets also assist the temple administration of Urukudu Eranna in maintaining Queues of pilgrims during the month of Shravana.
ENTRY – IN SERVICE : The College received financial assistance from UGC to conduct coaching classes to SC, ST, OBC and minority students to gain entry into government service through various competitive exams. The coaching classes are open to our college students besides the outsiders. The students are trained in analytical skills, mathematics and communication skills to prepare for the competitive exams conducted by IBPS, RRB, SSC, …etc. Besides the faculty of the college experts in communications and arithmetic skills are invited to teach students. PLACEMENT CELL
The placement cell of the college has been instrumental in not only training the students in employability skills but also arranging Placement Drives by reputed MNCs like Tech Mahindra, L&T, Dr. Reddy Labs….etc. Mr. N. Newton Raj, Lecturer in English, is the Placement Officer of the college.

REMEDIAL CLASSES : Remedial classes are conducted to all the students outside the working hours. The weak students are identified and special teaching classes are arranged for such students so that they can excel in the exams.

The college is proud of its sprawling 18-acre playground. Many inter-collegiate sports and games were also conducted in the college playground. Regular practice of various sports and games are a constant feature here. N.C.C. Cadets also use the college ground for parade and drill practice . N.C.C. Day is also celebrated in the college grounds. Flag hoisting and ceremonial parades are held on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations. The college playground is also used as the Helipad when the state and the Union dignitaries like the Chief Minister, Prime Minister and others visit Adoni. Many mammoth public meetings were held in the grounds.
